My goals are to use this facility with confidence and skill, with the ultimate goal of my students developing skil students to use blogs, internet and computers as a tool for life skills.
So far , this programme has exceeded my hopes & expectations!

I initially wanted to learn about ways blogging and online learning may be useful for blended learning with CGVE students involved in my LearnScope project at St George TAFE. After attending two workshops, I now realise that these tools have greater application across diverse learning contexts. My learning goal at present, is to practise the skills I have learned, and to extend my knowledge as the workshops continue.

I have entered this program in order to stay up to date with possible advances in providing training.
The skilled faciliatators have enabled me to come to terms with the possibilitites of blogging.
As I train and teach many youths at risk, I am sure this new knowledge and skill will enable me to offer them better access to vocational training.
I train and teach many students who will respond well to the possibilities offered by this new communication tool.

My goals with regard to my involvement on the Learnscope Blogging project are:

* to learn an easy alternative to web design to use in projects for young people, eg documentation of aerosol art practice and artwork

* to develop self-publishing skills to use for communicating with colleagues and community contacts

* to be able to passon these skills to students and colleagues

Thank you very much. This course is fabulous. I am learning how to use this important new communication technology. Already I can think of many uses.

I will use it to facilitate customer service promotion with the Hornsby TAFE Library and student services and to facilitate staff team communication within the library. There will be many more uses as I think of new applications.

I am also investigating how to use this technogy to circulate information throughout the state to teachers who are teaching the experiential nonviolence Transforming Conflict module.

Thanks to Sean and Wendy. I so admire your skills and dedication.

thanks, Katherine Smith

When I came into this project I hoped to learn how to set up an interactive tool to assist TAFE students who have flexible attendance patterns and limited time to complete their modules. I had specific requirements in order to meet the needs of my students: i.e.

-to host files for notes, assessments;
-links to useful sites,
-enable students to post assignments and comments,
-interact with each other
-needed to be easy to register and use

I have now learned to set up a blog and upload files and pictures, create links to the web and set up teams - fantastic! Have set up session with my current class to set up the Team Blog. Can't wait to get started...

I want to explore how to provide support and dissemination facilities for teachers and facilitators in Transforming Conflict. It is being very useful already and has opened up a lot of possibilities.

My learning objectives in participating in Blog - On include:

Understanding how blogging can be used to engage and motivate large groups - ie the use of blogs and other e-communication has changed the face of journalism (Salam PAx and others) and the media and politics (see Move and the anti war marches all over the world and Howard Dean use now being taken up by mainstream. This is particularly pertinant ot the changes that are upon us in the media in general.

Also to achieve a better understanding of blogging, its applications in education and as a communication tool particularly in getting students and staff to use the blog for management of certain projects we are engaged in on the Certifucate IV course in Mass Media and COmmunication

Getting hands-on experience in creating blogs in order to introduce blogging to other staff in Media and Communication depts as well as more general staff and student participation - like Elizabeth I am a bit of an enthusiast and am tryign to get all the staff and people I meet to do them!!

To explore the empowerment qualities of blogs for verious equity groups within our student population

So much potential for blogging. Already I have got my Aboriginal elder friend a blog account for her 'reconciliation' ministry in Redfern. She is excited about the outreach of this technology for her mission.

I see uses within and outside TAFE and also for creative purposes e.g.sharing pieces of creative writing and photographs.

Within TAFE, I see it mainly as teacher/learner support tool but also with interactive team possibilities.

My personal learning goals are to find out more about blogging and how it can be used in education. And to get some hands on experience. I am particularly interested in using blogs in a class situation and exploring how blogging can be used to engage and motivate students in access and equity groups.
