What I liked

- Simplicity of software
- Felt supported
- Demonstrated potential of blogs well
- Good combination of group and individual support
- Creative potential of blogs shown
- Multiple applications for self-publishing tools
- Tutors' attitude - patient, knowledgeable, kind, positive in approach
- Catering was fine

Challenges

- Needed a Light Pro
- Computers setbacks - very frustrating
- Not enough practice time - easy to forget without practice

Bright Ideas

- Use Light Pro
- Check computers thoroughly beforehand
- Step-by-step notes to aid memory after session

- Felt welcome
- Good overview of session in introduction
- Printed notes
- Nice contrast between online journals and blogs in notes helps understanding of differences between the two
- Good pressure to keep moving
- Liked computer demo system

Challenges

- Underpinning computer skills
- Need more time - a lot covered
- Would like more time to practice with supervision

Bright ideas

- More supervised practice time
- Set up mentoring relationships
- Prior warning of required computer skill level
- Pre-requisite computer skills inventory
- More support with those without pre-requisite skills
- Step-by-step instructions with screen shots in notes
- Include URLs for websites visited in notes
- Table in notes to write usernames and passwords
- Sean's contact details on notes
- Notes about posting (added 04/07/04)

- Informative / covered a lot
- Catering in abundance

Challenges

- Too much scrolling
- Moving too fast
- Too much time trying to find relevant examples of journals
- Confused by difficulties encountered picking a username and password when signing up for account

Bright ideas

- Get on to the computer and look at something earlier - less talking
- Find better examples before session
- Set some homework at end of session
- Demonstrate and explain some of the difficulties picking a username and password that will arise during sign-up process
